TISA Glam Trash

That was super fun! Hope to see you on the  Taos Plaza catwalk on Saturday!
First graders’ butterfly wings were made out of recycled plastic bags donated by Taos Adobe and recycled magazines. They were inspired by studying the black Swallowtail butterfly’s eye spots and symmetry. Butterfly crowns show proboscis and antennae made out of recycled penmanship paper.

Skylar Isabella showing off her butterfly parts made of recycled handwriting paper.

Eli and Malcolm, testing their proboscis.

Congratulations to Skyler Patricia, aka our cool robot, the winner of the first grade grand prize.

Ace, as an amazing TISA dragon!

Miss Jutka’s costume is an homage to her staple drink: green chai. She used only teabag wrappers and staples to create the piece she is wearing. It was inspired by Turkish quilting and Japanese origami.  It has a delicate scent of the orient: ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Accessories: soda tab bracelet, green chai wrapper cuff and origami hat in celebration of segmented insects.
