Annual TISA Read-a-thon
Thursday, March 5, 2020, 8:30-10 and 10:30-11:00

Yay!!! We are having TISA's annual school-wide read-a-thon next week!  The funds raised by the
first graders will be used to pay for their end-of-year field trip in May. Each class has a financial goal
and a goal for the number of books to read for their trip.  The financial goal for the first grade is
to raise $600.00, which will pay for the bus transportation fee, entry fees, and the educational
activities for the students and chaperoning parents.

Here is all the information you may possibly need for the first grade Read-a-thon:

  • Each student seeks out sponsors to pledge an amount of money for the books read during the read-a-thon. Each family will need to raise a minimum of $40 for our field trip.
  • March 2 (Monday): Read-a-thon forms (coming home with your child this week) are to be turned in.
  • March 5 (Thursday) 8:30-11:00: FIRST GRADE  read-a-thon
  • April 2 (Thursday): Read-a-thon money is due. Checks are  made out to TISA.
  • Each first grade student needs a reading buddy. It can be either a parent, older sibling, family member, or a friend who can come in, listen to, and read with him or her. Reading sessions will be 8:30-10:00 and 10:30-11:00
  • Donations of breakfast snacks (muffins, popcorn, milk chocolate, etc.), and small prizes are much appreciated on the morning of the big read!
  • Read-a-thon Day is “Pajama Day.” Both kids and adults are welcome to wear pajamas, bring a pillow, a blanket, and get cozy for a morning of reading fun. If you choose to bring a special stuffy or a cherished book, please label it (they have been found to be especially prone to "wander off" that day).
  • Favorite books can be brought from home and/or books from our class library can be read.
  • Please consider labeling especially precious/special books with your child's name or leaving them at home.
  • We need each family to raise their fair share ($40) in pledges to meet the class' financial goal.
  • Please take a look at the Donation Pledge Sheet below (sent home this week).
  • Please fill it out and bring it back by Monday, March 2.
